So, I've known this woman for a year, and after a year of knowing her let me tell you some sure things about her - she is smart, GORGEOUS, has a great sense of style, compassionate, hard worker, loyal and did I mention, ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS?
I couldn't think of one reason why she would ever schedule a photoshoot - she is perfect in every shape or form we deconstruct ourselves in the mirror. But I wouldn't deny myself a pleasure of photographing her. :)
Within the first few minutes I've realized something - she still sees herself as an awkward long legged, long armed teen who doesn't know how to fit in with her more compact (read: shorter) peers. She is a proverbial "ugly duckling" that we all root for and makes it at the end. To everyone's delight though, she has blossomed into a beautiful swan that retained her humility, kindness, creativity, and gentleness. She is perfect this girl!
As her photographer, I was blessed with a model who understands posing. She was so easy to mold into different poses. As a professional I was thankful she kept the same amount of enthusiasm as I did throughout the whole shoot, which ended up lasting 3 hours. As her friend, there was nothing more rewarding then to see her viewing her images and admiring her own beauty for the first time.
I love to reveal boudoir or glamour images to my clients, and get this interesting reaction where they see beauty starring back at them and they can't believe it's them. I will never get tired of repeating: "It is YOU!"
At the end, I don't know who won - I think it's me: I've floated through the rest of my day, elated, pleased with not just the images but with the impact they made on this wonderful creature. I thought, a sure thing after each boudoir/glamour session is that no woman has ever regretted having one done. A sure thing is that it transforms them, it allows them to see themselves as we see them - strong, beautiful, sexy, gentle, loving, sensual and daring. A sure thing is that they go home with those images which remind them, that's who they are now, that's what they've blossomed to be, that's who they've carefully cultivated within themselves. The awkward teen with her insecurities about the world and herself although lives within us and plays an important part in reminding us where we come from, isn't in the driver's seat of our lives anymore. Instead, it's this amazing woman, who radiates her inner beauty from within and makes everything around her better. A sure thing is that every woman should have at least one boudoir or glamour session in her life, to capture who she is in this particular moment of her lifelong transformation.
